Dear friend:
Join the Great Whale Trail to end whaling in the Southern Ocean!
Each year, the Fisheries Agency of Japan sends a fleet of whaling ships to kill over 1000 whales in the name of scientific research, although the International Whaling Commission has labelled the "research" needless and urged the Japanese government to stop.
This year, whalers have added 50 humpback whales to their quota. We’re running out of time, please join Greenpeace now as part of the Great Whale Trail to end whaling.
The Great Whale Trail is a collaboration between Greenpeace and scientists working on humpback whales in the South Pacific. With financial support from Greenpeace, humpback whales from Rarotonga and New Caledonia have been satellite tagged. The whales' migration from their breeding areas in the South Pacific to the feeding grounds of the Southern Ocean is now being tracked in order to produce vital data on their movements, habitat use and population structure.
We’re fighting lies with science, and harpoons with satellite tracking, to prove that whales don’t need to die for science! Whaling must be ended!
Join us now as a Whale Defender by creating your own fundraising page, asking your friends and family to support your journey to protect the threatened humpbacks. You can also name the whales and be part of an international network of Whale Defenders. Are you ready to team up with Greenpeace to protect the whales? Sign up today!
