Dear member,

Greenpeace is inviting you and anyone who loves whales to challenge the head of Canon, the world¡¯s number one digital camera company, and a major sponsor of wildlife initiatives, environmental groups, and efforts to save endangered species, to express Canon's disapproval of whaling in the Southern Ocean, and to call upon the government of Japan to use only non-lethal research methods like we did with our Great Whale Trail project. Why Canon? Click here for more details.

Last week we positioned our inflatable alongside the Japanese whaling fleet¡¯s giant factory ship, Nisshin Maru to deliver a message. One of the Greenpeace crew held the Japanese character ¡¸‚Ρ¹ ('nise'), meaning FAKE - against the Nisshin Maru¡¯s hull, next to the word ¡°RESEARCH¡± which the Japanese Fisheries Agency had painted, to tell the people of Japan that this is yet another in a series of scandals that their government is trying to cover up by claiming that its whaling programme is legitimate research.
