GoGreen with ¡§Catcher in the Rye¡¨

¡@¡@No matter who you are or where you¡¦re from, ¡§Music¡¨ can break through barriers to bring people together! On August 21st Greenpeace China will mark its 10th Anniversary with the ¡¥PMPS Go Greenpeace Concert¡¦, the main theme of the concert will be ¡¥climate change¡¦ and we will be aiming to raise awareness and funds for our work on the issue. Same as Greenpeace China, 2007 is also the 10th Anniversary of ¡§Catcher in the Rye¡¨, this famous mainland rock band will come to Hong Kong and perform as special guest.

¡@¡@¡§Catcher in the Rye¡¨ is passionate about the environment and the lead singer Xiao Wei joined Greenpeace as a volunteer in 2006 to help save the Paradise Forests. Xiao Wei demonstrated his passion for saving the last remaining ancient forests with these words ahead of his journey to the forests of Papua New Guinea, ¡§After graduation I chose to be a singer because of my passion for music, which was a good and fun choice. To become a Greenpeace volunteer going to the Paradise Forests is also a choice, which I believe is good, fun and also wise. For me, music is a belief, so are green and peace!¡¨

¡@¡@It was the first time that Xiao Wei working as the volunteer and his journey had a big impact on him and he wrote the song ¡§Green¡¨ especially for Greenpeace. He used the universal language of music to tell people around the world that nationality, skin colour and race makes no difference when it comes to protecting our planet.

¡@¡@¡§Catcher in the Rye¡¨ performed ¡§Green¡¨ to thousands of university students in mainland China in 2006 with a backdrop banner reading ¡§Save the Paradise Forests¡¨ to raise awareness for forest protection. In May 2007, ¡§Catcher in the Rye¡¨ performed at the Midi Beijing Music Festival, which Greenpeace for the first time were also invited to take part in. In addition, the band¡¦s 3rd album also uses recycled paper for the cover and packaging. As good friends of Greenpeace China, they will come from Beijing and showing their greatest support!
